Ina Seok

Bio

Born in South Korea and raised in California, Ina received an opportunity to explore different educational systems. In 2011, she graduated from University of California Berkeley with a bachelor’s in Political Economy. Pursuing her passion in education, she joined Teach for America and taught as a classroom teacher at a San Jose-based charter school, Rocketship Education. Prior to joining EdTech Summit, Ina obtained her M.A. in Economics and Education from Teachers College.

She firmly believes that although new technology can positively contribute to students and teachers with innovative ways of learning and teaching, constantly evolving technology can also widen the achievement gap and inequity that already exist in our society. Thus, she joins EdTech Summit to learn and share strategies with local South African educators in the hopes that this process will strengthen both of SA educators’ and her teaching practices. Ina is honored to be a part of the Global Team this summer and thrilled to learn from and with the SA educators.

Workshops

When Students Learn Differently: Differentiating is Easy with a Smartphone!

This workshop will discuss why differentiation is crucial in ways to utilize technology to differentiate instructions in R-5 classrooms. Including EdTech mobile applications like ZipGrade, ClassDojo and Zeal, teachers will learn and explore ways to digitally collect and analyze formative assessments, manage behaviors during differentiated instructions, and assign individualized lessons to a small group of students.
