Leading with Love – Motivating and Empowering our Students with Media, both in and beyond the classroom, will be a hands-on workshop focused on motivating and empowering our students beyond the classroom with Mixed Media Arts.  This workshop will include the exploration of motivation, redefining the “classroom”, media as a tool for purpose, voice and passion. and relationship building as a method of strengthening the Parent-Teacher-Child relationship.

Bio

Haydee Lee Toro is a  a Family Developer certified by the Center for the Study of Culture, Health and Human Development and by the Center for Environmental Health & Health Promotion. She is also a mother of two, entrepreneur,  and early childhood educator.  Ms. Toro’s  passion for people and a community’s mental well-being through self-love comes from her own life struggle with depression, as well as her desire to create change on how mental health is evaluated within urban communities along with the total wellness of women, children and families.  Haydee’s passion for social change has inspired her to take on  positions such as Family Service Coordinator, Parent Coach, Workshop Facilitator, Program Director for a Woman’s Wellness initiative as well as the role of a humanitarian inspired production company entitled Haydee Lee Media.

Haydee Lee attended Borough of Manhattan Community College, The City College of New York and Bank Street College of Education. Her studies included Early Childhood Education, Developmental Disabilities, Liberal Arts and Human Services. Ms. Toro’s work in the Educational Field dates back to 1999.
She is a former Family Services Coordinator at Lutheran Social Services in Harlem, New York. Her duties there included coordinating appropriate services to best assist families, providing parent and staff workshops, records management, case management, executing family engagement events and IEP referrals as well as convening with mental health consultants, nutritionist and all 3rd party programs for children. Ms. Toro’s ultimate duty was to create a positive school culture.
