About Us

We are focused on teacher training program development addressing education equity and social justice issues by working to implement creative and cutting edge technologies in schools and communities. We support teachers and learners with innovative technology tools and training to aid in the acquisition of 21st century skills, methodologies and instructional strategies.

In a collaboration across oceans, K2 Productions Global, Edunova, LEAP Science and Maths Schools, and Teach With Africa work together to produce EdTech Summit South Africa specifically aimed at growing the confidence and skills of teachers in South Africa in creative technology integration and implementation. We are particularly dedicated to educators teaching in challenging, underserved and under-resourced environments where technology has been nonexistent or training opportunities rare. These four organisations believe that teachers who are motivated and trained can cross generations of barriers to bring excitement, innovation and measurable learning acceleration into their classrooms.

EdTech Summit South Africa 2013 was our first attempt at providing free and compelling professional development around technology use in the classroom for teachers in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Through a generous equipment donation from Town School for Boys in San Francisco, we gave away through raffle and through active participation in social media, 55 laptops, most going to teachers who had never owned a computer previously. We also put teaching tools such as document cameras, laser pointers, multimedia equipment and software into the hands of teachers to take back to their schools and integrate actively.

This innovative conference was held in August of 2013 for 3 days each in Cape Town and Johannesburg, serving over 240 educators and administrators. All workshops were created to showcase hands-on project-based activities focusing on practical skills to encourage technology adoption for teachers of all subjects by emphasizing creative technology approaches to delivering content and assessing learning.

Our active full-day multi-track workshops in 2014 will be led by teachers and technology professionals from the U.S. and South Africa in teaching partnerships that will provide a deep dive into many of the technology options available in highly-funded schools around the world with the aim of inspiring confidence, broadening teaching toolkits and accelerating learning in classrooms across South Africa. Further, we believe our format of Presenters coming together to share skills beyond borders serves to increase both U.S. and South African teacher capacity for cultural sensitivity and global connectedness and serves to link classrooms to classrooms and teachers to teachers for long-lasting relationships that begin over common educational goals and shared experience, however divergent participant backgrounds may be.
